The World Will Never Know CosmoBot!

CosmoBot has arrived just in time for Halloween! There’s a conspiracy theory called the Lost Cosmonauts Theory which claims the Soviet Union sent several people into space who didn’t make it back to Earth successfully and that those missions were scrubbed from official Soviet history. Creepiest among these stories is Ludmilla. Not only did she purportedly burn up upon re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere on May 23, 1961, but thanks to a couple of Italian brothers who liked to play with early radio equipment at Torre Bert, there is a recording of it (translation). Days prior to the re-entry she was heard to say “Conditions growing worse; why don’t you answer? . . . we are going slower . . . the world will never know about us.“ I highly recommend watching this Discovery News podcast that I learned of the story from which will recap the story as well a a few other entertaining science conspiracies. Happy Halloween!

SnakeEyes — Acrylic on Wood w/ Paint Pen

I call this guy SnakeEyes as a tribute to the classic G.I. Joe character. I know that’s not a very roboty name, but sometimes sticking bot on everything is just tough. The reason he’s SnakeEyes is both because of the muted colors and lack of a mouth. I tried out a new technique, drawing a tiny robots, which I doodle a WHOLE lot of, and then blowing it up to trace and paint. That’s why I ended up with such thick lines, the use of a paint pen for the lines contributed to that too. An interesting little sucker he is!
